Bar Flamingo, also known as Pavilion Tre Flamingo, is a distinctive bamboo pavilion originally designed for a tourism fair. The client’s goal was to create an indoor exhibition booth to promote resort destinations, while keeping costs low and using lightweight materials that were easy to transport and dismantle.
To meet these requirements, bamboo was selected as the primary material for its environmental friendliness, structural strength, and suitability for quick construction—even by workers with minimal technical expertise.
Despite its lightweight nature, bamboo is highly durable and capable of meeting rigorous design and fast-paced construction demands. Pavilion Tre Flamingo is more than an exhibition booth—it’s a showcase of bamboo’s flexibility and potential for creating sustainable, reusable, and innovative architecture for various applications.
The main structure of Pavilion Tre Flamingo comprises four symmetrically curved surfaces, viewed from both the front and side elevations. The architects cleverly combined curved steel columns and straight bamboo columns to evoke the wings of a flamingo—a fitting reference to the resort’s namesake, a bird renowned for its vibrant pink feathers and graceful form.
This interplay between curved steel and straight bamboo achieves both structural precision and aesthetic softness. The steel columns act as directional guides, while the bamboo columns form the curved surfaces, resulting in a perfect balance of industrial technique and natural materiality.
With budget-conscious and mobile design in mind, bamboo proved its worth in this project. It not only reduced material and labor costs but also supported a sustainable approach, as the structure could be dismantled and reused for other exhibitions.
Following its initial deployment at the tourism fair, Pavilion Tre Flamingo was repurposed for multiple exhibitions in different locations, demonstrating the adaptability and reusability of bamboo-based architecture.
After its success as an exhibition structure, the client requested an additional roof extension to transform Pavilion Tre Flamingo into an open, airy space seamlessly blending into the scenic landscape of a Northern Vietnamese resort.
Now functioning as a small bar beside the pool and restaurant, the pavilion offers guests a relaxing, nature-filled environment—ideal for gatherings, leisure, and enjoying drinks.
Though modest in size, Bar Flamingo showcases the adaptability and reuse potential of bamboo when thoughtfully designed, offering an immersive resort experience with minimal ecological impact.
Pavilion Tre Flamingo is more than just a trade show booth—it is a testament to bamboo’s versatility and sustainability in modern design. With its simple yet elegant form, low cost, and reusability, this pavilion demonstrates how bamboo can be used to create beautiful, durable, and environmentally integrated structures.
As both an exhibition space and a bar, the pavilion has become a standout feature at Flamingo Resort, enriching the overall visitor experience and reinforcing the value of sustainable design.
