Growth characteristics of solid bamboo
Solid bamboo is the specie of bamboo, originated from Southeast Asia, the scientific name is Thyrsostachys Siamensis.
The mature bamboo culm is about 6-14m high, diameter is 2-7cm, solid and very hard, no thorn. The leaves are small, 7-14cm long, 5-7mm wide.
Solid bamboo has the fast growth rate, can be harvested after 3-5 years, and can harvest repeatedly to 50-60 years due to this type of reproduction “As bamboos grow old, young shoots spring up”.
In Vietnam, solid bamboos are planted in the South ares.
The uses of solid bamboo
The solid bamboo culm is used to create the products, such as: curtain, stairs, column, truss, bed, handicraft products, interior decor,… Besides, the other parts of solid bamboo like leaves, shoot, root,… also bring many benefits.
Solid bamboo in construction
Solid bamboo is hard, solid, has the small hollow at the base and very thick shell, so it’s often used for load-bearing and structure. In particular, the solid bamboo culms are very uniform, so it’s very convenient to deploy bamboo connections.
Solid bamboo is the cheap material, easy to plant, easy to find. The solid bamboo constructions when be destroyed, will decompose to the soil, limit environmental pollution, not cause tons of waste like other materials.
Beside the works built from concrete, iron, steel, the solid bamboo constructions bring the unique and bold beauty, it’s the combination between traditional language and modern design.
Solid bamboo is the strongest, the most flexible, the most durable bamboo. Therefore, the bamboo architectures are very firm, it have the life expectancy over 50 years.
