What is indigenous culture?
The architecture attracts people not only by its form or function, but also by indigenous culture in architecture. It is local culture identity, is the “soul” of the nation, the community values have been summed up over time.
Indigenous architecture is built to respond directly natural resources and the need for shelter of local people.
Indigenous culture in architecture
All of us want to live in the space that be harmonious with nature and ecological environment, sublimable from indigenous and community values. When the same blocks are built more and more, the world comes back to enhance indigenous culture value in architecture.
Vernacular culture is the very important element in architecture. The city or countryside, plateau or plain will change according to the development of society, but natural identity will still be preserved. The trends will pass, but traditional local beauty and regional characteristics still hold the monopoly position. Indigenous culture brings durable value for that architecture can last the long times.
Indigenous architecture not only have artistic values, but also create historical values. It contributes to maintain the diversity of architecture around the globe. Without those architectural works, society will lack the root of culture. Therefore, national architecture will soon fade on the map of world architecture.
The great civilizations are always proud of their architectural constructions. Countries with rich culture such as China, India, Japan and European countrise… always use architectural language to introduce their indigenous culture.
Nothing is more reasonable and graceful when the work be dressed up the natural coat from the land contain it. To begin the project, architect must study, experience and understand deeply the land and the people there in each breath and life routine. Applying indigenous architecture is the way to foster affection with nature and consolidate historical presence of each nation.
